Maximum dose: 4,000 international units per day

Usual Adult Dose for Vitamin D Deficiency

Initial dose:
50,000 international units, once a week, for 8 weeks
or
6,000 international units, once a day, for 8 weeks
Maintenance dose: 1,500 to 2,000 international units, once a day
Maximum dose: 10,000 international units per day

Comments:
-Target blood levels above 30 ng/mL of 25(OH)D.
